    Midtown

The ultimate NYC experience where the famed bustle and glamour of the city is palpable

When you think of the quintessential New York City experience, the colorful effervescence of Midtown is what likely comes to mind. As the central portion of Manhattan, Midtown is typically divided into two segments: Midtown East and Midtown West, which is more commonly known as Hell’s Kitchen. Residents have the most iconic of NYC experiences all right outside their front door, and the neighborhoods are ideal for those who want to be front and center of the action.

Midtown is replete with some of NYC’s most famous buildings, landmarks, and institutions, including The Empire State Building, the Broadway Theater District, Grand Central Terminal, The Rockefeller Center, and Times Square. Midtown also houses the city’s Central Business District, which is the largest business district in the world.

From the straightforward and down-to-earth crowds of Hell’s Kitchen perched beside the Hudson River to the more family-friendly, prestigious streets of Midtown East, the sections of Midtown come packed with their own personality and residential offerings. Hell’s Kitchen has some of the most affordable real estate in the city, and its walk-ups and brownstones have a charming historic beauty that pairs well with the few new luxury buildings. In Midtown East, there’s a great number of luxury condos and spacious townhomes to choose from, in addition to more modest walk-ups and apartments.

    What to Expect

    • Riverfront views possible in both Midtown East and Hell’s Kitchen
    • Right at the center of everything, a world of entertainment and excitement at your fingertips
    • A busy and active urban lifestyle with plenty of recreation along the river and in the neighborhood parks

    People & Lifestyle

A tourist mecca, Midtown’s residents are used to crowds and benefit from the abundance of commercial and entertainment opportunities in place to meet the heavy demand. Midtown isn’t a neighborhood for those looking for a leisurely pace, and those who live in the area have an adventurous spirit, an industrious attitude, and a vivacious flair that can keep up with the city’s never-ending energy.

    Dining, Shopping, & Entertainment

Midtown is home to the illustrious Madison and 5th Avenue shopping district, which is perhaps one of the most well-known retail areas in the world. Along this busy street, you’ll be able to browse the flagship stores of brands like Adidas, Saks Fifth Avenue, Marimekko NYC, and Puma, as well as other high-end brands such as Louis Vuitton, Tiffany & Co., and Armani. In Hell’s Kitchen, there’s a larger collection of local merchants and curated finds, with plentiful stores like Domus that offer internationally sourced home goods, apparel, and more.

Known for its collection of affordable and local eats that highlight flavors from all over the world, the dining scene in Hell’s Kitchen is one of the neighborhood’s biggest appealing features. Donburiya is a neighborhood go-to for classic Japanese cuisine, and their crowd-pleasing udon noodles have garnered a large base of loyal fans.

Empanada Mama serves delicious Columbian fare that’s always guaranteed to be satisfied, including their namesake empanadas that are often touted as the best in NYC. There’s plenty of dining stars in Midtown East, too, and with restaurants like the exquisite Aquavit making headlines. The Nordic minimalist décor inside is in perfect harmony with the upscale Scandinavian fare, which includes a sumptuous tasting menu offering dishes such as caviar, duck, and artisanal cheeses paired with fine wine.

    Things To Do

Living in the center of Manhattan, it’s hard to narrow down the multitude of activities and entertainment options that are at residents’ beck and call. In Midtown, you can hit a Broadway show, catch up with friends at late-night dives, or join the throng of crowds shopping and exploring in Times Square.

But, when locals want a respite from the commotion of city living, they’ll often take a stroll at one of the area’s many parks or riverfront walks. Bryant Park, for instance, houses lush seasonal gardens and offers visitors the chance to dine al fresco and enjoy the weather. The Hudson River Park is another popular location, boasting four dog runs, a river sanctuary, and tons of green space to enjoy. Also located at the park is Pier 84, where visitors can dock their boats and an interactive fountain that’s a huge hit with kids.
